A Passion for Public Sector Service
Our software is born from decades of engineering grit. For decades, EPIC's engineers, GIS specialists, and consultants have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with municipal teams, utility districts, and aviation authorities. We saw firsthand how rigid, generic enterprise software failed real-world field operations and built Simplify i3® to bridge that gap by combining deep infrastructure expertise with modern, cloud-native technology.

How we got here
Built by the people who felt the problem first
In 2010, the water and wastewater utilities EPIC's engineers worked with every day were flying blind. The EPA estimated more than 240,000 water-main breaks and 170,000 sewer-main breaks occurred across the country every year, yet the software built to prevent them — complex, standalone systems built for utilities far larger than the ones EPIC actually served — put real-time infrastructure intelligence out of reach for most small and mid-sized agencies. Most were left running on spreadsheets, paper work orders, and the philosophy of "fix it when it breaks."
So EPIC proposed something different to the National Science Foundation: an infrastructure intelligence system, code-named Neptune, built around a simple idea — give every utility, no matter its size, instant map-based access to its own asset and budget data. That SBIR-backed research became the technical foundation for Simplify i3® (Integrated Infrastructure Operations Platform) — the platform that helps public agencies move from reactive patchwork to proactive operations today.

How we work
The principles behind the platform
Public-sector first
Every workflow is designed around how agencies actually operate — compliance, budgets, and the field, not generic enterprise tickets.
Engineering rigor
Built by GIS specialists and civil engineers with decades in the utilities and public works industry — not software developers guessing at the domain.
Right-sized partnership
A dedicated team that knows your compliance standards and data structures — not a faceless support queue.
Built to last
Infrastructure decisions play out over decades. We build software with the same long view.
Leadership
